Review:
Certain qualities are a given when reading Nos4a2no9's work: beautiful use of language (the author should give lessons on how to use a minimum number of words to make the most impact) and deep character-driven stories. Here the author takes Wender's classic film "Wings of Desire" and transposes the Due South universe into it, casting Ray Kowalski as an angel intrigued by the comings and goings of humanity and Benton Fraser as a drained Mountie in Chicago. When I read through it the first time I was surprised by the actual word count, because it's the sort of story that's so rich in emotion it feels epic. There really isn't much more I can say about it besides READ. NOW.

Wings of Desire - if you want the whole thing in one go. Personally, I'd recommend reading it part by part, starting here. It's the difference between spreading a fine dining experience over many courses versus having it all laid out for you. Some things are just that much better when you savor them.

The one where Rodney or Sheppard (Rodney, I believe) gets a sunburn. At some point in the fic, one or more of the other characters learn the sunburn victim's father always told him to go take a hot shower after getting a sunburn, that hot water on a sunburn would overload the pain centers of the brain and it wouldn't hurt any more. The other characters are, of course, aghast. Someone points out, hey, aloe.

To which I have to reply, did the moviemakers and I read the same book? I can see the sexual energy but the drugs? Does Harry have a secret meth addiction? Should they call the film Harry Potter and the Valley of the Dolls? I always felt Draco probably did Coke but that is because I read entirely too much fan fiction.

Actually, it's not a thing, but a weirdness, and for the life of me, I cannot work out why they are acting this way.

Have you ever been reading along in a comm with all these people you know, and thought you have known for five billion years, and then they say something so batshit with such earnestness you kind of get why Jeffrey Dahmer's neighbors had no idea?

It's *weird*. If this were a novel, no one would believe this characterization twist.

In far less interesting news (which is saying something), I got a sudden sharp pain in my arm and shoulder and wondered if I were having a stroke*, then ate a granola bar. I feel it brings me closer to everyone to share this.

*(Note: As it turns out, it's from using my left arm to hold up my head while sitting at my desk for six hours a day. My logic sometimes isn't earth logic. Also, I'm lazy. Surprise, surprise.)

Dry humour in general. An entertaining premise. And if you like Jeffrey Donovan or Gabrielle Anwar or Bruce Campbell? (I do!) Marathon the first season so you're caught up!

Took about two hours to finish both. Not much to say about these. Rodney's hair is flat and his chin is a little too prominent.

Rodney's was a screencap but I can't remember which ep (I have a bad habit of capping eps and not tagging them). There was a forest in the background and he was pointing :D
